You read that right, folks. There are no shoes in this post. I know, I can’t believe it either! But that’s OK, ’cause sometimes life takes us to beautiful places where shoes are not required.
Our friend David Esquire recently left his very stylish Italian Leather shoes at home in exchange for some time on the beach in Hawaii and an opportunity to share what he calls “a peek inside the agile mind of David Esquire”. I’m still bummed that I couldn’t accept his invitation to kick off my pumps and head to Hawaii for his very first workshop and some much needed R&R. (I think I could have convinced him to go shoe shopping with me, even if were just for a new pair of flip-flops.) In case you didn’t know, David is one of the most exciting & inspiring Wedding Photographers on the West Coast. Seriously, with a love of 80′s music, a history of photography in the music, fashion and glamour wedding industry, and an unquenchable thirst for life & motivating others; just spending 5 minutes with David will give you a sense of “The Esquire Experience!” Why don’t we all kick off our shoes while David tells us about his time in Hawaii and the journey ahead…..
“Where have my feet taken me on my life’s journey recently? This past week I was in Hawaii for a working retreat. I conducted my first ever workshop giving a small group of people a peek inside the agile mind of David Esquire of posing one’s self along with a client.
I have shy’d away from doing this over the course of my career as I didn’t want to let anyone “see the man (aka: ideas) behind the curtain.” But recently, I’ve been taking a different approach helping elevate our industry through awareness and education.
Similar to my “I Am Not A McTographer” concept and T-Shirt line that is intended to help create awareness to build one’s individuality and looking towards one’s self, craft and product to be an expression of themselves and not a homogenized commoditized product of the masses for the masses. Thus being a clone if everyone else and a reduced quality as well.
My feet are planning on taking me to other parts of the globe in 2010 as I hope to shoot a wedding with a friend in Berlin and one in London in August along with two workshops that are brewing. One of which I can’t say yet and the other is the McTographer Workshop – which is gaining interest in my hometown of Chicago right now.
Then there is the 2012 London Olympics that I’m working on. It’s a long and short road ahead, but I am one of the approved vendors for the Olympics, so hopefully I’ll be blessed with that opportunity.”
Say it with me peeps….WOW! Looks like David will breaking out the Traveling Shoes quite often on his adventures through life. I hope that David’s journey inspires you in some way to embrace your individuality and to go after your dreams.
David, thank you so much for sharing a bit about where your shoes, I mean, your feet have taken you in life. Good luck on your journey around the globe. I hope you find some amazing shoes to share with us!
Thank y’all so much for sharing your “shoes”. The pictures and stories have been so much fun to see and read and I just love sharing them with you.
Have you sent yours in yet?
