Hey Ya’ll!
Whew! There have been some major things going on in the world of T Style! I have so much to share with you, too much for one visit. But before I say anything else….
THANK YOU! Thank you so much for being here.
If you’ve been following me on Twitter and Facebook, you may remember a few weeks ago that I was on the golf course and sent you a picture of a beautiful waterfall surrounded by colorful flowers, all on a lush green golf course. It was truly a lovely day for any outdoor activity, especially a golf tournament to benefit a very deserving organization. I was told that this was the first major event organized by the team I’d be working with, but as the day went on, I admit to having my doubts. This team of young, confident and motivated Cal State Fullerton Students was ON IT! After the 18-whole tournament, my friend and fellow Photographer, Carol Marie Cobb joined me to help capture the afternoon festivities including a Networking Mixer and Silent Auction. I could tell you all about the event with a few of my own words and let the picture show tell the rest. But instead, I’d like to introduce you to the lovely and very talented, Miss Gardenia Meza, our Guest Blogger and Executive Director of the Team. (She’s also very stylish, ya’ll.)
By Gardenia Meza-
I guess you can say that my girl Tamara was the “perfect fit.” Her soulful persona already had a deep connection to my hopeful little event. Having jogged half a marathon while photographing a valiant family who’d fought and won against pediatric cancer trying to defeat their little angel, this was the first time Tamara rendezvoused with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF). Oh, did I mention she did it walking and jogging backwards while taking pictures! Yeah, she’s quite the superstar.
On April 26, 2010 the Cal State Fullerton S.P.E.C. PR Team, made up of young, highly extroverted and aspiring Public Relations practitioners (well that’s my opinion, I am the Executive Director after all), finally saw the bread and butter of their hard work. By the way ‘hard work’ is an understatement! Together with R.D. Olson Construction’s VP of business Development and PCRF Board of Directors Tim Cromwell, the team executed their first charity golf tournament, The Inaugural R.D. Olson Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting PCRF.
Everyone in attendance, including Tamara and the S.P.E.C. PR Team geared up in their swaggiest of golf attire…checkered pants, polo’s and all. More than 150 Real Estate and Construction industry professionals joined in on a day of sun, golf, beer and of course giving at the scenic greens of Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano. Hey, even Baseball Hall of Famer, Bobby Grich, showed up. After 18 wholes on the greens, the Golfers enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, a great wine selection and good music during the Networking event and Silent Auction.
I do have to say that the day wouldn’t have been complete with out some of Luscious Jimmy’s Catering‘s mouth watering good ole BBQ. What can I say, I love my “Boss Man” Jimmy, not only because he was the best boss I ever had (now, don’t get mad Tim!) but because he was the vessel of the friendship I look forward to seeing grow with my girl Tamara. Jimmy, I guess my “pay it forward” keeps on growing with you.
At the end of the day when all the shoes finally came off, I had to give great attribution to all the super duper (yes, I said SUPER DUPER!) people that dedicated their time, talents, goods and hard earned cash for the best non-profit I ever knew, PCRF. All the love to Logan, Lori, Darcie and Kevin, S.P.E.C. PR couldn’t have been successful with out all your dedication.
AMEN! We raised $28,833.50 in benefit of PCRF! And yes, none of this could have been possible with out people like you, our gold and silver sponsors, donors, fabulous volunteers, and Susan Rodriquez (without her the S.P.E.C PR team would’ve been lost). Now you get to enjoy some of the best talent contributed to our golf tourney benefitting PCRF, Ms. Tamara Young’s photographed storyline of the day.
I’d like to personally thank Miss Gardenia for inviting me to participate and for writing such a great re-cap of the day. For her first major event topped off by her first official blog post, I say “BRAVO!”
I must thank Kevin for being the best golf cart driver ever, for giving me the Cliff notes on the game and being an awesome Wing Man! You’re the BEST!

So there you have it, folks. This is just one of the many places that my shoes have taken me recently. Where are you headed next?
